Once again the Fleet Championship was decided on the last day of the racing schedule; it was just too much of a good thing. There was wind in abundance, but there were also whitecaps and building waves. When social chairman Chip Minshall returned to harbor on Chip Ship reporting gusts to thirty knots, racing for the Ensign Fleet was cancelled. Disappointed skippers and sailors gathered on the pavilion to enjoy the view of the lake, which initially included a number of boats from the PHF races, but soon they returned to the dock as well. With no final day of racing, there was no change in the standings and Nick Lubar is the new Fleet Champion. Nick and the crew of MBSS Medalla won the first race of the year and “ran the table” for the first half of the season. Onrust and Vulcan had some success at catching him later in the year, but he had built up a lead that held through the end of the season.
